Tarifa, Spain 28 Mar 2024

ree

It was very windy and misty, but I set out to explore Tarifa. I walked by the Miramar Tower, which I will come back to see.

I passed the marina to the Entre Dos Mares. This is a pier that is at the separation of the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.

It was beautiful and painful. The wind was blowing the sand, which hurt. But it was so worth it.

This area is known for wind surfing and I can see why.

That's Punta del Santo. There's a walkway but I am going to skip that.

That's Africa in the background. I will be heading there tomorrow.

Not sure what this is/was but it would be so nice with some love.

I walked back to Miramar Tower and climbed up. Great views of the marina.

Here's a whole view.

It was starting to sprinkle so I headed back to the Walled City where I am staying. I went through the Puerta de Jerez (gate). I love the walls.

In the gate on the left side is this picture of Jesus. So weird that they gave him pubic hair.

Once inside the walls, are so many cool streets. It's fun just to walk around.

This is one of the main streets, which my place is just off of. There's coffee shop, restaurants, groceries, everything right here.

Look at this beautiful courtyard. There are so many, and I am always peeking at them.

This church is right by my place. I went to check it out and someone told me I should come tonight for the Semana Santa.

To be very honest, I had no idea what Semana Santa was, but I thought why not check it out. I heard a lot of banging and noise last night. I was curious. I showed up early to get a spot. Thankfully I did, this place was packed.

Then these people walked out. I have to admit, I was unsure what I got myself into. What the heck?

This is the procession. It was repeated for hours. This sweet little lady was trying to explain what was going on to me, but I didn't know enough Spanish to understand. I watched for a bit then slowly made my way home. I was only about a tenth of a mile away, but it took me 20 minutes to get through the crowds. They do this every night.

That was enough for the night. That was outside my comfort zone.
