The excitement set in today. I think I was too tired yesterday. We started with breakfast at the hotel, which had a really nice buffet. My favorite were the buns. They had a filling in them, and the bread was so soft. The purple one had taro inside. YUM!
We (I) didn't plan anything for today. I figured we would need a day to adjust, and we have a big day tomorrow.
After breakfast we relaxed by the pool. Very nice area. Plus look at all the shade! That's a huge bonus for me. By the way, it's in the 90s and humid.

Since everyone told us we needing to take advantage of Thai massages while we were here, we booked one. I really had no idea what to expect. We were brought to a room and told to change into massage clothes. Aren't we cute??

Then the massage started. When I think of a massage, it's a gentle, relaxing event. Thai massages don't fall into this category. I was bent in ways I didn't think I could bend. At one point she tried to touch my toe to my nose. She also put her foot between my legs and pulled my leg as hard as she could. Overall, it was an interesting experience. I felt great when it was done even with a few bruises. It definitely took me out of my comfort zone.
Then we were served mango sticky rice and tea. I am not a tea drinker, but this was terrific. Also, mango sticky rice is amazing! The little thing sticking out of the rice is condensed milk, which you squeeze on the rice.

We were feeling good, so we decided to check out Bangkok. We took a taxi to King Power Maha Nakhon Skywalk. On the way I was enthralled with the power lines. They are so crazy to me. Maybe they get paid by the foot?

Then we saw the building! It's so cool. And we are going to the very top.

The Maha Nakhon building is 1030 feet tall, 78 stories and at the top is an observation platform. Once we entered the building, there was a map of Bangkok on the ceiling.

We got int the elevator, which moves at 480m/min or 1574.8 feet/min. Crazy fast. At the top. well not quite, the 74th floor, there is an indoor viewing area. Then you take a glass elevator up to the 78th floor which has the outdoor viewing area and Skywalk.

The views were amazing! I had no idea Bangkok was so huge. Skyscrapers everywhere. We were trying to count all the helipads we could see. These pictures were taken from the indoor viewing area.

We reached the 78th floor. There were several seating options, a bar and the Skywalk. The Skywalk is a glass floor and walled area you can walk out on. After putting on shoe covers, you could step on the Skywalk. It was a weird feeling, I knew it was safe, but my feet didn't want to step out there. I loved it.

Check out the 360 view.
A word of warning, there's not much shade up there. So, in the summer, it's HOT.

When we couldn't take being in the sun anymore, we went down. In front of the building there was a street food festival, so we had to walk through and check it out. We decided to go have dinner. We walked for a way then Googled rooftop dining and found the Heaven Rooftop Bar & Lounge.

This place was so cool. The views were great, the food and drinks were terrific, and the service was perfect.

We had spring rolls, fried rice and chicken. So good.

We were hoping to see the sunset but there are a lot of skyscrapers around. We got glimpses though.

I really enjoyed this place. It was just so relaxing and pretty.
I have to backtrack for a minute. When Jamie and I were planning this trip, she heard about the Ladyboys and was adamant that we weren't going to see a show. It became a joke. Back to present.
Jamie says we should go see the Ladyboy show. I almost fell out of my chair. I thought she was kidding but she wasn't. So, we bought tickets online and headed out of the restaurant. Had to use the facilities first, which became very entertaining. First, Thailand has a range of toilets, from what we know all the way to squatty potties. Piece of advice, always have toilet paper with you, it's kind of a luxury. Also, you don't flush tp, it goes in the trash can. I laughed out loud when I saw this sign.

Then I saw this sign and lost it.

We decided to take a tuk tuk to the show. It was scary, fun, crazy and we laughed so hard.

We were dropped off at Aquatica. This is a neat area with many shops, restaurants and attractions. Since we had extra time, we walked around and shopped. We saw a lighting by the waterfront, which was pretty.

Never thought I would see Jamie too hot to shop, but it happened. Oh well, it was showtime. We had tickets to the Calypso Caberet.

It's a lip-syncing show, with everything from show tunes to Elvis to Beyonce. They did announce who had completed the transitions and who was in the process. I have to say I am glad I went but this wasn't my thing.
Afterward, you could take pictures with the performers. You do have to pay to take pictures with them. They are insistent, hence our picture.

We then headed back to the hotel.
